SBA Loan from Centrust Bank Helps Local Brewery Expand Business

Updated: Jun 1, 2023

After his son no longer needed him to drive him to hockey practice, Bill Hermes started pursuing a new hobby. He began brewing beer in his garage. When fellow hockey dads, Jeff Sheppard, and Dave Cavanaugh, learned of Bill’s tasty beer, they decided to build a small brewery, that’s when Light the Lamp Brewery was born. Named after the hockey term for scoring a goal, Light the Lamp Brewery originally opened up a small brewery in their neighborhood, but quickly realized they needed more space. When a historic building opened up down the street, they turned to Centrust for financial assistance. Centrust Bank helped secure an SBA loan allowing them to purchase the building and new equipment for brewing their beer. With the help of Centrust Bank, Light the Lamp Brewery was able to expand their business, allowing them to serve amazing food, brew great beer and create a unique spin on your typical neighborhood brewery.
